My personal experience says... that if you really enjoy travelling then.... nothing is better than a road trip!
It is an experience in itself..... nothing can beat it !
I will be sharing our road trip experiences from our recent
DELHI - GOA ROAD TRIP with you all.
Our Route plan
Well we wanted to visit the western ghats during the monsoons, wanted to see its real beauty !!
However due to time constraints we had to prepone our road trip to the Ghats. We decided to leave Delhi around end of May and be in Goa in the first week of June.
Route taken
Gurgaon-Jaipur-Udaipur(halt)-Ahemdabad-Vadodra-Surat-Mumbai(halt)-Pune-Belgaum-Chorla Ghats-Goa
Total Kms travelled from Delhi to Goa - around 2100 Kms
Days taken -3
Travelled daily- around 10 hours approx 900 Kms everyday
Night Halts- 2
DAY ONE- DELHI TO UDAIPUR
Around 700 Kms via NH 8 and NH79 (Has tolls)
Time taken - around 11 hrs
Road condition- Fairly Good
Here one needs to keep in mind that throughout Gurgaon to Jaipur you'll have to find your way through the trucks, keeping that in mind we left early.
On the way.....
Udaipur-The city of lakes at night
Main tourist attractions in Udaipur-
Lake Pichola
Boat Ride In Lake Pichola
Fateh sagar Lake
City Palace
Jag Mandir
Monsoon Palace
Lake Palace
Sunset point
Bagore Ki Haveli
Saheliyon Ki Bari
I recommend you do all the above mentioned things. Take a two days halt in Udaipur to cover these places.
Udaipur City from Sunset Point
You can reach this point through a cable car costing Rs 78 per head.
DAY TWO - UDAIPUR TO MUMBAI
Around 785 Kms via NH8
This route is full of tolls, but worth it... wonderful roads to drive on ...especially NE 1.
Time taken- Around 12 hours
Road condition- excellent
The day started early for us, we were on the road by 4:30 considering the fact that we would be entering Mumbai in the evening, and we all know what Mumbai's traffic is like !!
Well we passed through all the cities mentioned on the board below. We could have by passed Ahmedabad, but didn't !The purpose of a road trip is that you can head where ever you want to!
Next day we would be in GOA !! How exciting... we were almost there....
DAY THREE - MUMBAI TO GOA
Around 604 Kms via NH4 (Has Tolls)
Time taken around 11 hrs
Road condition- Excellent
Must add- You will enjoy this drive, very scenic... must say !
We choose not to take NH17 'coz it is a two lane drive, though is scenic.
Also we did not enter Goa via Amboli Ghats, 'coz the roads are better in Karnataka... so took the Chorla Ghat route(After Belgaum).
Here I'll like to mention that we took the longer route in terms of Kms, but it takes almost the same time to reach Goa.
Am happy we took this route... it was a beautiful drive on wonderful roads !
